Welcome

Hi! I'm Neal and this is my blog. No, that isn't a photo of me. Being a photographer, I'm always behind the camera, so finding a photo of me isn't easy. So, until I find a decent photo of me, we'll just have M&M Guy over there.

Writing about myself is not my forté. That's why I'm a photographer and not a writer. :) Just enjoy the photos!

Thank you. :)

Doe, a deer

Yesterday morning, as the kids and I were preparing to run out to the library, the kids took a glance outside and yelled “A FAWN!!!!!”  I’m glad the windows were closed or they probably would have scared our guest away.  I tip-toed out the front door onto the porch and took this shot:

Fawn in our front yard

I think our visitor was injured.  Mom wasn’t anywhere to be seen and Bambi here didn’t budge until the kids came out the front door.  She was gone when we got home, so she probably ran into the woods near our house.

DC Photo Walk with Shawn Duffy

This past Saturday, Kathy and I joined Shawn Duffy and about 40 other photographers in Washington, DC at the Lincoln Memorial for some night photography.

Sorry, no photos of the Lincoln Memorial.  There were too many tourists around.  I have to go back sometime when it isn’t so touristy. :)

I then attempted to capture The Washington Monument, but a tour bus pulled up and parked in the middle of my exposure:

Old Concert Photos: The Alter and The Door Tour 2007

The first concert I shot as an “Official Concert Photographer” was The Alter and The Door Tour on November 8 , 2007 at the Patriot Center at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Angela Stevens and my friends at WGTS 91.9 FM in Takoma Park invited me to tag along with them to the show.  I really enjoyed the opportunity to shoot Casting Crowns, Leeland, and John Waller.  This was the first time  attending a Casting Crowns concert and it was different than any other concert we have attended.  If you have never attended a Crowns concert, I highly recommend that you attend one.

Here are just a few of the photos from the concert.  You can view more by watching this slide show.

Old Concert Photos: Awakening Music Festival 2007

These photos of NeedToBreathe and DecembeRadio are from the Awakening Music Festival 2007.   I was not an official photographer for this concert, so I tried my best to get as close as I possibly could to the stage.  I can’t post all my photos from that day, but here are just a few:

Trash the Dress Bash 2007

Last year, I wrote  about a Trash the Dress session I did in 2007.  I was talking with some other photographers recently about photographing around The Capitol, so I just wanted to post a few photos.  Here are a few photos that were taken around The Capitol Grounds and a few that were not.  I hope you enjoy. :)

Concerts from my old blog

I was going through all my concert photos and I realized that there were some concerts from my old blog that never made over to this blog.   I’ll work on updating the blog with some other concerts.

These concerts include the following groups (or individuals):

I’ll try and get a few posted from each of these groups. :)

Gone Fishing

The last time my parents were out visiting my dad mentioned to Nathanael going fishing.  I told Nathanael how I used to go fishing with my dad, so he wanted to go fishing.  This past Memorial Day Weekend we visited my parents and sister in Maryland, so we took a little fishing trip.  Nathanael knew we were going to go fishing and he was very excited and really looking forward to it.

We headed out to Little Seneca Lake in Black Hill Regional Park for Nathanael’s first fishing trip.

Nathanael casting his line

I didn’t have much time to compose that shot because the fish were really biting!  As soon as Nathanael cast a Sunny Bluegill hit his line.

Face Painting

It was beautiful on Saturday, so after running some errands, we headed to Downtown Front Royal on Saturday for the 23rd Annual Wine & Craft Festival. We don’t drink and we didn’t buy any crafts, but it was a chance to get out of the house and give the kids something to do.

The first order of business for the kids after eating lunch was face painting:
